GOD WILL MAKE A WAY
"There was a sea in front and an army chasing Israel down, but God made a way."
"Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left." (Exodus 14:21-22)
"Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord: 'I will sing to the Lord, for he is highly exalted. Both horse and driver he has hurled into the sea.'" (Exodus 15:1)
A Sea in Front and an Army Behind: Can you imagine an army chasing you down and a sea blocking your potential escape? You could say the situation seemed like an impossible one. Are you facing a situation that seems impossible? I want to describe this escape and victory from this Old Testament miraculous God intervention. This is one of the most famous and significant events in the Old Testament, illustrating God's power, faithfulness, and deliverance of His people. And here is where I want to encourage you: the God who delivered the children of Israel is your God, who can intervene in your impossible situation.
"By faith the people passed through the Red Sea as on dry land; but when the Egyptians tried to do so, they were drowned." (Hebrews 11:29)
Faith and Obedience: Moses stretched out his shepherd's staff, an act of faith and obedience. In response, God performed a miraculous feat—He opened a path where none seemed possible. This powerful moment underscores a fundamental truth: Miracles often require the ignition of faith. Additionally, your miracles demand obedience to God's direction.
Consider the consequences if Moses had hesitated or failed to obey God's command to extend the staff. What would have unfolded? Furthermore, think about the significance of the Israelites' obedience as they followed Moses and Aaron through the parted waters—walking on dry ground, no less. Their faith and obedience, too, played a crucial role in this divine demonstration.
"Was it not you who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep, who made a road in the depths of the sea so that the redeemed might cross over?" (Isaiah 51:10)
God did it for Them, and He will do it for You: The prophet Isaiah reminded the people that God made a way for their forefathers to escape the pursuing Egyptian army. The verse demonstrates that God accomplished this extraordinary act, making a way through the sea for the redeemed Israelites. The purpose of this reference was to remind the Israelites of God's past deliverance, with the intent to strengthen their faith and confidence in His ability to rescue them once again in their current circumstances.
I trust this verse will encourage you that the God of Israel’s miracle is your deliverer. His unlimited power, faithfulness, and history of delivering His people should encourage you to trust in Him for your breakthrough.
Isaiah drew upon this miraculous escape as a source of inspiration and faith-building for a people once again confronting seemingly insurmountable challenges. I use this remarkable deliverance to rejuvenate your faith, knowing that if God did it for them, He can do it for you.
"We have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two kings of the Amorites east of the Jordan, whom you completely destroyed." (Joshua 2:10)
The renown of God's deliverance had spread far and wide, even reaching the ears of the inhabitants of Canaan. Rahab, a resident of Jericho, recognized God's mighty works, including the awe-inspiring parting of the Red Sea, as she conversed with the Israelite spies. The impact of God's greatness stirred faith within Rahab, leading to her escape from the impending destruction of Jericho. Rahab's faith blossomed as she witnessed what God had done to rescue the Israelites. Her story serves as a testimony to the power of faith. Just as her faith secured her deliverance, your faith, rooted in the God of miracles, can likewise be the means for your breakthrough.
God is your Way Maker: The beloved worship song "Way Maker" joyfully celebrates God's intervention in the lives of His people. He is not just a Way Maker; He is your Way Maker. Testimonies (Rev 12:11; Psalms 81:5) of God's mighty works (Exodus 15:11; Mark 16:20), Faith (Heb 11:1-6) and Obedience (Deut. 28:1-14) in God's word (Matt. 24:35; Isaiah 55:9-11) are some of the covenant (Psalms 89:34) keys to break out of every impossibility (Luke 1:37; Mark 11:24).
